Named after Thomas “Tanner” Smith, the real-life West Side gang leader of the early 1900s, this sprawling bar wraps a modern New Year’s Eve party in old-school New York swagger.
Inside, exposed brick, wood-beamed ceilings, hanging cage lights and candlelit tables set a Prohibition-era mood, while the long main bar and its towering shelves of whiskey become the center of the celebration. A neon sign reminds everyone that “you can’t be half a gangster” — and on New Year’s Eve, nobody is.
